The Defenders Duty
Welcome to the first installment of what I hope will be the first of many articles, "The Defender's Duty." The purpose of this particular article is to examine the various formation the top teams in Europe tend to play and one of my personal favorites, the 4-2-3-1, which is in essence a 4-5-1. So why would a sane person choose to play in defence when they could be playing up front or on the wing scoring the vital goal that wins the team the ever elusive trophy? Well that is simple, the smartest players play at the back. These players are usually the brightest the game has to offer and have the ability to read the game incredibly well while passing on these instructions to surrounding team mates.
